Provisioning & Network Systems Engineer

SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the technology and architecture of provisioning systems related to WildBlue Architecture. This individual's key mission is design, troubleshoot and support the provisioning systems of WildBlue architecture

ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Tier 5 escalation support  in troubleshooting provisioning related issues
  • Work with or assist Senior Systems engineer in provisioning system related issues
  • Assist in defining and leading the implementation of next generation provisioning systems
  • Work with provisioning system vendors to define requirements for new releases of software or hardware of provisioning systems
  • Assist or lead in testing new software and hardware releases of provisioning systems

  • Hands on experience in solving ambiguous systems issues. 
  • Broad technology experience base with implementation and operations experience in WAN/LAN
  • Strong self-starter
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work within and across teams
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and to deal with stress appropriately
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent applicable experience in a relevant technical field
  • Prefer 4+ years experience in integrating cable modem, network, firewall, server, and provisioning technology
  • Require hands on experience in DHCP, DNS, TFTP servers.
  • Require detailed working knowledge of  DHCP, DNS, TFTP  and other provisioning protocols.
  • Require detailed development and administration knowledge of UNIX Servers
  • Experience in ISP provisioning of CPE.
  • Require  hands on experience and detailed working knowledge in major networking protocols and architectures, routers, firewalls and switches, VPN's and system load balancing
  • Knowledge of DOCSIS protocol and DOCSIS provisioning methodology
  • Basic network trouble shooting is a plus
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of troubleshooting provisioning problems.
  • Prefer programming experience. 
  • Prefer 2+ years professional System Administration experience with UNIX or UNIX like operating systems in supporting ISP services.
